MODERNISATION AND RECONSTRUCTION OF RAILWAY LINE BEOGRAD – NIŠ, SECTION VELIKA PLANA – NIŠ (VELIKA PLANA – GILJE, PARAĆIN – STALAĆ AND ĐUNIS – NIŠ (TRUPALE) SUBSECTIONS

PROJECT LOCATION

Railway Velika Plana – Niš (Trupale) is part of the 244 km long Belgrade – Niš railway line that was built as a single-track railway and commissioned in 1884. It is an integral part of the European railway network (Corridor X) and is of highest importance for domestic and international traffic in Serbia. The railway line is electrified. The second track was gradually added on this railway line, and currently only Stalać-Đunis section is a single-track.

The sections of the railway that are subject of this project are the following double-track sections:

  1. Velika Plana – Gilje, 49km length
  2. Paraćin – Stalać, 22km length
  3. Đunis – Niš (Trupale), 40km length

OVERALL OBJECTIVE AND PURPOSE

Basic objective of Velika Plana – Niš (Velika Plana – Gilje, Paraćin – Stalać and Đunis – Niš (Trupale) subsections) project is to develop legally required Preliminary Design, Feasibility Study and Environmental Impact Assessment Study for the purpose of developing tender documentation, for launching public tender for construction.

The purpose of this project is to prepare technical documentation for the modernisation of the railway line Velika Plana – Nis (Velika Plana – Gilje, Paracin – Stalac and Djunis – Nis (Trupale) subsections) according to the European Agreement on Main International Railway Lines (AGC), the European Agreement on Important International Combined Transport Lines and Related Installations (AGTC) and the South East European Co-operation Process (SEECP) and the European Standards for Interoperability (TSI). The project encompasses modernisation of 111km of railway line in total.

PROJECT OUTPUTS

In accordance with European Technical Specification for Interoperability (TSI), AGC, AGTC and the SEECP Agreement, the PPF8 team shall develop the following project documentation:

  • The Feasibility Study
  • The Preliminary design, including Conceptual Design
  • The Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Study
  • Tender Dossier
